alga SEC firewall analyzer leverages
powerful network topology intelligence
to help you analyze and visualize
complex networks in this demonstration
we're going to take a closer look at the
interactive topology map firewall
analyzer automatically analyzes routing
tables to detect zones and subnets
throughout the network and the topology
map is updated every time a router or
firewall is added to a fa let's click on
this checkpoint firewall we can clearly
see all the interfaces and zones of the
firewall and if we click on elements
such as this cloud we can instantly see
more information in this case all the IP
ranges of the cloud we can also move
elements around rename them easily add
new devices to the network map and merge
separate remote branches with the
headquarters network topology
intelligence is leveraged throughout the
algis X suite for example when querying
which firewalls block access to specific
traffic when designing rule changes or
when analyzing risk let's consider a
scenario in which Jim the CEO calls to
complain that he cannot access the
company's SharePoint portal we suspect
that one of the firewalls might be
blocking the traffic but with so many
firewalls and rules it's hard to know
for sure we can run a query against the
group of devices in this case
traditional firewalls from vendors such
as Cisco checkpoint Fortinet juniper and
McAfee as well as a next-generation
firewall from Palo Alto and a Cisco
router we can easily run a query by
inputting the source address destination
address as well as the SharePoint
applications of the devices queried we
can immediately see on the topology map
that there are two in the network path
the Cisco a sa firewall is partially
routing the traffic while the checkpoint
firewall is blocking the traffic in
addition to visualizing what is
occurring with traffic in the network a
FA allows us to quickly drill down to
this specific rule on the firewall and
further drill down into the objects that
make up the rule to determine why
traffic is blocked this was a short
demonstration of how algis X topology
intelligence helps you analyze and
visualize complex networks you can
